- barely作“仅仅”和“只不过,几乎不”解时强调不多余,因其已有否定含意,故不能跟否定词连用。
- barely作“刚好;不超过”解时常用于某个数量、年龄、时间等。
- barely与when〔before〕连用表示“一… 就… ”时主句谓语动词多用过去完成时,而从句谓语动词则用一般过去时。barely一般位于谓语动词之前,系动词或第一个助动词之后。
- barely有时用在较长的句子结构中说明一件事紧接另一件事发生。
- barely作为否定副词位于句首时要引起主谓语的部分倒装,即“barely+助动词+主语+实义动词”,如无助动词,则须添加一个do。
- barely不用于比较等级。
