adv. (副词)
  1. far的基本意思是“远”,可指距离的远,也可指时间的远。指距离时,一般用于否定句或疑问句,在肯定句中,多用a long way代替far。但far如位于too或so之后,则可以用于肯定句; 与其他副词或介词连用时,也可以用于肯定句。far不与kilometre等表示确切距离的词语连用。
  2. far可用在比较级前,表示“过于…”“…得多”。
  3. far作“太,极”解时,无比较级和最高级。
  4. far可以修饰原级的形容词或副词,语义上含有比较的意味。far和by far都可以修饰形容词或副词的比较级或最高级, far修饰最高级形式和by far修饰比较级和最高级形式时,该最高级和比较级形式前须加定冠词the。
  5. far from意思是“远非,不但不…”,后可接名词、代词、形容词、副词、过去分词或动名词。接形容词时,可以看作是省略了being。
