lay, place, put, set
  • You placed me in a difficult position.
  • I put the suitcase on the table.
  • They were setting the table for dinner.
  • lay, deposit
  • He laid mats on the floor.
  • You can deposit your valuables in the hotel safe.
  • He laid〔deposited〕 the books on the desk.
  • He's deposited quite a lot of money recently.
  • lay, lie
  • He laid his dictionary on the shelf.
  • The dictionary is lying on the shelf.
  • lay,place,put,set
