prep. (介词)
  1. over表示方向可作“从或通过…顶上(交谈等)”解; 作“从…边沿溢出,漫过”解,其后一般接容器类物体、河堤等。
  2. over还可表示状态,作“遮在…上方,盖在…上面,伏在…上”“挡在…前面,遮在…前面”解。
  3. over还可表示方式,作“通过,凭助,经由…的媒介”解,其后常接电话、电视、收音机等交际工具名词。
  4. over还可表示原因,作“由于,因为”解,常与动词fight, quarrel, rejoice等动词连用。作“因碰撞…(而)”解,常与fall, trip等动词连用,后接表示凸出的物体的名词。
  5. over还可表示比较,作“与…相比,与…比较而言”解,常与choose, like, prefer等动词连用。
  6. over表示过程,还可作“翻遍,查遍,看遍,度过”解。
  7. over还可表示伴随,作“在(某人)身旁(看护),在(某人)周围(监视)”解,常与sit, stand, watch等动词连用。
  8. over还可表示运算,作“除以”解。
  1. over与above的比较：over通常指在某物的垂直上方，above则仅表示在其上的方位，在不需要特别强调垂直上方的语境里，两个词可以互换。

  2. over and over和over and over again都表示“屡次地”，后者为英国人常用；
  3. over with表示“做完”或“完了”，常用于口语中。

  • I helped the old lady across the road.我扶着老太太过了马路。
    • over, after, at, by, for, from, with, through
  • 这两个词都可表示“按照”“根据”“依照”“依从”。其区别在于:
  • 1.at多接抽象名词; 而by多接具体名词。
  • 2.这两个词都有“按…计算”的意思,不过by用于英式英语; at用于美式英语。
    • over, during, throughout
  • 这几个介词均可表示“在…期间,在…时期以内”。during既可以表示句中动词所表示动作或状态持续的时间段,也可以表示动作发生在一段时间中的某时间点上,但它不强调动作何时发生或何时结束; over则往往强调经过一段时间后所产生的结果; throughout更注重时间进展的始末。

  • on指与另一物表面相接触。
