afternoon与this, that, yesterday, tomorrow, every, all等限定词连用时相当于副词短语,其前不使用介词。
  3. afternoon
  1. afternoon 由after和noon两个词组成,常以in the afternoon形式出现,指“在下午”,也可说during the afternoon
  2. 有时,afternoon前不可加in或on,如this afternoon (今天下午),yesterday afternoon (昨天下午)等表达方式;
  3. after noon较少用做状语短语,但shortly after noon (午后不久),immediately after noon (午后立即)是用比较广泛。

    We left after noon today.

She helps me with English grammar afternoons.

afternoon, after noon
  • What are you going to do this afternoon?
  • What are you going to do after noon?
  • in the afternoon, on the afternoon
  • I was at home on the afternoon of last Monday.
  • Mostly I slept in the mornings, and in the afternoons, sometimes.
  • in an afternoon, in the afternoon
  • 这两个短语意思不同, in an afternoon指一个下午,而in the afternoon指今天下午。例如:
  • It can be done in an afternoon.
  • It can be done in the afternoon.
    the afternoon of life
后半生,晚年 the old age; one's later life
