- dare用作实义动词时,有时态和人称的变化,用do, does或did来构成否定句或疑问句。
- dare作“敢”解时,指“勇敢”,含有大胆、鲁莽、爱冒险,或因爱慕虚荣而甘冒生命或受惩罚的危险的意味,后面通常接动词不定式,有时可省略不定式符号to。一般不用于进行体。
- dare还有“激某人做难办的事”的意思,即问某人敢不敢(或能不能)做某事,暗示他不敢(或不能),其后接以动词不定式充当补足语的复合宾语,不定式中的to一般不省略。
- dare还可作“冒险,面对危难而不畏惧”解,直接接宾语,这是不常见的用法。
- dare的过去式是dared,但多用于正式语体,口语中少见。
