  3. love可用a great, much等修饰,其后常接介词for。
  1. love在表示“恋爱的对象”时,一般说的是女性,不指男性,不过现在sweetheart的用法比较普遍;
  2. 信函中用以表示“请向……致意”时,可用表达方式With love to ...;
因此,就算they have fallen in love with each other,但因不知道对方的心意,未必“心心相印”。fall in love with或be in love with还可用于非生命物体。

He has fallen in love with her for years.
该说He fell in love with her years ago。

He fell into love with the idea at once.
She is quite in love with the garden.

love常用作like。

She likes him but doesn't love him.

    I love ice cream.
I love going to the cinema.

He would like/love to dance with us tonight.

    He likes/loves dancing.
He likes to see his children at play.

love to-v, love v-ing
  • I'd love to visit the country, but I've got to stay here in the city.
  • I love visiting the country. It's so nice, walking and getting some fresh air.
  • love, enjoy, like
  • Leave whenever you like.
  • I was learning and enjoying it like any child.
  • He can't love but hate.
  • affection,love,attachment
  • like,love,enjoy,fancy,adore,prefer
