n. (名词)
  1. majority的基本意思是“多数”“大多数”,尤指在选举中在半数以上,即超过其余候选人得票总和的人或政党,也可指票数差距,即多得的票数或超过的票数。
  2. majority也可泛指“大多数”。
  3. majority还可作“成年人”解,指达到可以投票的法定年龄,如英国、中国等为18岁。
  4. majority单独用作主语时,谓语动词多用单数形式,在强调“多数中的各个成员”时,谓语动词常用复数形式。
  5. majority只用作单数,通常与of连用。the majority of后可用单数名词,也可用复数名词,谓语动词的数与of后面的名词相一致。
