admit还可接以“(as/)to be+ n./adj.
  1. admit of意为“有……

    I admit of no doubt.
I admit the truth of the statement。

  2. admit

He admits being ignorant of it.

He admits to being ignorant of it.

    He admitted himself a failure.

admit, allow, let, permit
  • She opened the door reluctantly to admit the unwelcome visitor.
  • Jack was admitted to the hospital to have his tumour removed.
  • Playing ball is not allowed in the park.
  • Parking is not allowed here.
  • Time does not permit me to stay longer.
  • Tom's parents will not let him swim in the lake.
  • Allow me to〔Let me〕 thank you on behalf of our factory.
  • The facts permit no other explanations.
  • We won't let such a thing happen again.
  • admit of, allow of, permit of
  • The matter admits of no delay.
  • Your fault doesn't permit of any excuse.
  • You allow of no chance.
  • admit, acknowledge, confess, own
  • He acknowledged that he was your inferior.
  • Did he admit to stealing it?
  • He confessed where he had hidden the money.
  • Dan acknowledged himself as criminal.
  • I admit to a natural fear.
  • Jane acknowledged using her father's motor-car.
  • They admitted my statement to be reasonable.
  • The police have confessed themselves completely puzzled by this strange crime.
  • They acknowledged having been defeated.
  • He confessed taking part in a plot to free the prisoner.
  • She admitted having done wrong.
  • admit, receive, take
  • The boy admitted stealing the jewels.
  • The boy admitted to stealing the jewels.
  • The boy admitted that he had stolen the jewels.
  • But Susan doesn't admit that she has done anything wrong.
  • But Susan doesn't admit doing anything wrong.
  • accept,receive,admit,take
  • acknowledge,admit,confess,recognize,concede
