There is a great demand for apples.

    They demands more helps.

He makes the demand that he shall(should) leave the place immediately.

I shall demand of him to answer.

  5. demand

    He demanded of her.

  6. demand

She demanded to see my book.

demand from, demand of
  • 1.用介词from时更强调from的宾语sb; 用介词of时更强调动词demand的宾语sth。
  • He demanded 1000 dollars from me.
  • Every week he demanded ten yuan of his father for books.
  • He demanded of me to keep secret.
  • demand, ask, beg, order, request, require

  • He begged me to excuse him.
  • Visitors are requested not to touch the exhibits.

  • The meeting will take place at 8 o'clock. Your presence is requested.

  • The father demanded knowledge of what had occurred during his absence from home.
  • This requires great attention in our work.
  • The officer ordered that the men should fire the guns.
  • demand, claim, exact, require
  • The opposition have demanded that all the facts be made public.
  • Did you claim on the insurance company after your car accident?
  • The urgency of the situation requires that we should make an immediate decision.

  • He demands that I shall tell him everything.
make demand on, make demand of
