n. (名词)
  1. rank用作名词的主要意思是“头衔”,主要指军阶、军衔、警衔、级别,也指地位(尤指较高的地位)、社会阶层,作此二解时可用作可数名词,也可用作不可数名词。the rank of后接表示军阶、职位的名词时,该表示军阶、职位的名词前通常不用冠词。the ranks则指“普通士兵”或“(团体或组织的)成员”。
  2. rank也可表示“等级”,一般用单数形式。of/in/to first rank和of/in/to the first rank两种说法均可,不过加the的情况多些。
  3. rank还可指“行,列”,尤指警察和士兵的队列,也指一行人或车,用作可数名词,一般用复数形式ranks。
