  3. regret前可用much, little, no等修饰,表示遗憾的程度。
I regret that,I regret to say that,I regret to have to announce that等,语气的轻重不同。

I regret to tell you that my brother died yesterday afternoon.

I regret to hear of your sister's death.

I regret causing him so much inconvenience.
    我因让他如此不方便而感到后悔。

  4. regret属于及物动词,后面通常不与介词for连用;
I regret, I am afraid
  • I am afraid〔I regret〕 that I shall not be able to attend the party.
I am afraid...
  • I am afraid she didn't tell the truth.
  • I regret that she didn't tell the truth.
  • He regrets to have done such a thing.
  • He regrets having done such a thing.
  • He regrets doing such a thing.
  • I regret that this has happened.
  • I regret that this should have happened.
    regret, remorse
  • The boy was filled with remorse for the worry he had caused his mother.
  • regret,repent
