v. (动词)
  1. recognize的基本意思是“认出”,指根据事物的特征而觉察到、辨认出或认可某一现象存在。引申表示“承认”“确认”“辨认”,指某人注意到、认定某事物的真实性、重要性、责任感、能力、学识等或某人、国家对某人〔事〕的认可并承认其具有合法性,强调实际上地、明确地承认,而非形式上或文学上的承认。有时recognize还可作“准许…发言”解,往往指会议主席允许某人发言。
  2. recognize是及物动词,接名词或代词作宾语,也可接that从句或疑问词从句作宾语。
  3. recognize可接to be/as+ n./adj. 充当补足语的复合宾语,意思是“认出…是…”或“承认〔确认〕…是…”,as和to be不可省略。
  4. recognize在英式拼法中也可拼作recognise。

  • 这两个词都有“承认”的意思,常可互换使用。其区别是:
  • 1.recognize一般指认可某一现象存在; acknowledge一般指承认某一事件真实。
