  1. maintain的基本意思是“保持”“继续”,指采取某种手段或措施保留一种有价值的东西,使其获得保养并维持良好状况,有时也指使事情能正常持续下去,引申可表示“坚持”“主张”“供给”“赡养”等。
  2. maintain只用作及物动词,后面可接表示生命、法律、秩序、和平、友谊等名词作宾语; 也可接that从句,还可接以“to be+ adj .”充当补足语的复合宾语。
