  1. summon的基本意思是“召唤”“传唤”“召集”,指运用权威或行使权力指示、命令、吩咐,或要求某人去某处,常用于正式的集会或公务等方面。
  2. summon是及物动词,接名词或代词作宾语,还可接以动词不定式充当补足语的复合宾语。

  • 这组词都表示“召开,召集”。其区别是:
  • convene的词义比较广,既可指召集某个团体,也可指单独调某人; 而convoke所表示的召集意思更正式,更具权威性,而且所召集的机构往往有权通过决议或有执行权; call和summon只用于指召集政权机构、正式会议等,而不用于指召集某些人,但summon的主体一般是有权的,要召集的态度也更坚决; muster不是表示召集,而是调集很多人于一地,它跟本组其他词的不同在于:它往往表示为检阅、演习等目的而调集,客体带有军事性质; invite则是客气地邀请,被邀者出席与否可以自愿选择。
