v. (动词)
  1. confess的基本意思是“承认”,指承认自己认为是错误的东西,含有尊重他人意见的意思,引申可表示“忏悔”。
  2. confess可用作不及物动词,也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时,可接名词、动名词或名词从句作宾语,也可接以“(to be+) adj. ”充当补足语的复合宾语。
  3. confess不能接动词不定式,也不用于被动结构。

  • 这四个词都有“公开承认”的意思。其区别是:
  • 1.acknowledge和admit所承认的是不对的或不光彩的事实; confess指承认“错误及罪行”; own承认的不一定是“错误及罪行”,只是一般地表明自己的感觉及处境。例如:
  • He acknowledged that he was your inferior.他承认他不及你。
  • Did he admit to stealing it?他承认是他偷的吗?
